A ‘Beco Home’ built to personal high standards offering exceptional energy performance does not often come on the market but this wonderful home near Okehampton is currently for sale.
The house is unashamedly contemporary yet sits happily in its rural setting of 1.6 acres.
The owners, both with a background in design, originally planned to renovate the existing bungalow. When they discovered this wasn’t structurally possible, it enabled them to embrace the creative challenge ahead of them.
The layout of their home has been very well thought out. The windows have been concentrated to face south and west towards the sun, maximising the spectacular views, and the main living accommodation has been arranged on the first floor with the bedrooms underneath.
There are galleried alfresco areas, perfect for entertaining, and on the top floor there is beautiful bedroom suite, as well as a mezzanine.
Wallform 313 was the chosen system and made featured curves much easier than cutting block or brickwork. The corners of the building were rounded off to create a unique look. Wallform curved blocks were also used to enhance the Art Deco feel of the property.
It has been a wonderful creative experience for the owners, and they enthuse about the whole journey, but have decided it’s time for their next adventure!
